Jan Goldfuß (born in Germany 1980) is a visual artist, mainly working with computer-generated moving images (3D-Animation).
After his final degree in Media-Design at Bauhaus-University Weimar in 2006 he started working as a freelance digital artist, mainly in Berlin.
Since 2010 he is undergoing post-graduate studies of Media-Art at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, where he is currently living.
His main goal is to explore the rather young medium of computer-generated images in a self-reflexive way.
He is mostly looking for the very own charakteristics of digital media, not using them to mimic other media.
For him it is more about exploring new ways of expressions of digital media than perfecting them in a traditional way.
By that he aims to extend the horizon of perception by showing images hardly seen before.
He wants to confront mankind with the undisguised world of digital media and so evoke a conciousness for their peculiarities and distinct behaviour.
Moreover he tries to kind of visualise philosophical ideas dealing with media and semiotics in general.
Thus his work is mostly influenced by thinkers like Gilles Deleuze, Vilélm Flusser, Marshal McLuhan and others.
